Agricultural organic sulphur is a highly effective, slow-release elemental sulphur (typically 90% sulphur and 10% bentonite) used to naturally lower soil pH for acid-loving plants. Granular forms allow for easy spreading and conversion into plant-available sulphate by soil bacteria.

• Why use agricultural sulphur?
  Soil acidification: Lowers pH for plants that thrive in acidic soils (e.g., blueberries, rhododendrons, azaleas, hydrangeas).
• Turns hydrangeas blue: Increases soil acidity to shift the pigment of pink hydrangeas to blue.
• Nutrient availability: Helps plants take up key nutrients more effectively (like nitrogen, phosphorus, and iron).

Best practices for application

• Application time: Apply early in the spring. Elemental sulphur takes time to work—expect pH levels to shift within 3 to 6 months as soil microbes convert it.
• Rate: Rates vary based on soil type (clay requires more than sand) and starting pH. Always follow the product label or a soil test report. A general baseline for small areas is about 110 g to 250 g per 10 square meters.
